By that I mean the author has not just used the after action reports of the various boats but also given a detailed listing of awards received, casualities listed individually, and the short life history of each boat. As a historian I can tell you this is a monumental work in research. I knew a little about the boats being used to p|About the Author|Robert J. Bulkley, a retired USNR captain now deceased, commanded PT boats in the southwest Pacific, mostly in New Guinea and the Philippines, from June 1942 to war's end.

Small though they were, PT boats played a key role in World War II, carrying out an astonishing variety of missions where fast, versatile, and strongly armed vessels were needed.
